The Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) has firmly established itself as an important base for materials science and engineering research in China. The IMR, CAS focuses mainly on high performance metallic materials, new inorganic nonmetallic materials, advanced composite materials, advanced biomaterials and energy materials as well as materials engineering including materials synthesis and fabrication, processing, application, corrosion and protection, and calculation and simulation.
The IMR, CAS whole-heartedly invites domestic, overseas and foreign scholars to apply for the following faculty positions in materials and related fields:
Ø Directors of Research Division
A qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. degree, be under 45 years old, and from overseas hold an associate professor/above or equivalent positions, with a minimum of four years relevant overseas working experience. A candidate having a full professor title can be extended to 48 years old. The qualified candidates will be recommended to apply for National “Thousand Talents Program” scholars.
Ø “CAS Hundred Talents Program” scholars
A qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. degree, and be under 40 years old, and from overseas hold an assistant professor/above or equivalent positions, with a minimum of four years relevant overseas working experience. A candidate having an associate professor title can be extended to 45 years old.
Ø “Young Merit Scholars”
A qualified overseas candidate should have a Ph.D. degree and be under 38 (35 or younger preferred) years old, and be with a minimum of two years relevant overseas working experience or obtain his Ph.D. degree from a famous overseas research institution. A qualified domestic candidate should have an associate professor title, or be a winner of Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of China or CAS, or a winner of President Special Award or Merit Award of CAS or T.S. KÊ Research Fellowship, or other equivalent honors.
Ø “T.S. KÊ Research Fellowship” scholars
A prospective fellow should have obtained his Ph.D. degree not more than three years and be under 35 years old. Each Fellow will receive a package of salary and benefit of RMB 100,000-150,000 per year and a research grant amounting to RMB 500,000. Fellows are required to work full-time at post-doctor positions.
Ø Other positions for overseas researchers and technicians
Recently, a Young Scholars Research Center of IMR was established in order to incubate the future research leaders for new research directions on materials science and engineering.
